An important clinical question has arisen about whether or not the intraperitoneal application of a polysaccharide hemostatic powder during laparoscopy might be associated in some patients with the development of life-threatening thrombotic microangiopathy.
If you are aware of any cases with this potential link, please report them to your national regulatory authority; and also send a short summary of the clinical history (age, gender of patient, type of application, agent, month/year of occurrence, and outcome) to MELVINTO@tcd.ie
Responses may be compiled for the purpose of publishing a summary of responses.
